Description - The USS John Young (DD-973), a Spruance-class destroyer of the United States Navy named for Captain John Young USN. It was in service between 1978-2002.  April 13, 2004, John Young was sunk by a Mk 48 torpedo fired by USS Pasadena (SSN-752) during exercise RimPac 2004.
